Ten on Ten: September 2011
Imagine my surprise when I realized I hadn’t posted a single thing here since my last ten on ten–that’s what end of summer and hurricanes will do to you.
I have posted plenty on my Hank & Willie tumblr blog–perfect for iPhone photos on the go!
I also have lots of new client images on Facebook at Anna Sawin Photography, and lots more to come when I get through my next editing marathon!

But more importantly, I continue to love this project, ten on ten–a passionate group of ten lovely and amazing photographers from the United States and Canada taking ten images, one hour apart on one day out of the month, documenting life as it happens around them. On the tenth of every month, we post our ten images, and if you follow our links, you’ll make it around the whole circle of ten. Enjoy.
This month I’m linking to my dear friend Melissa–see her ten on ten at melissawoodard.tumblr.com.
These images were taken on Tuesday, September 8, 2011. Our oldest was finally headed back to school–he had been due to start the previous Wednesday, but Hurricane Irene had other plans. The drenching rains on this day were the remains of Tropical Storm Lee, the storm that brought such devastating flooding to the mid-Atlantic area.
School supplies! I love school supplies.
Someone is really excited about getting ready for school! Will, age seven.
The bus stop crew this year, plus Henry who has one more year to go.
The cucumbers just keep coming. No complaints in this house.
What we AREN’T doing today for the first time in days. They have been boogie boarding and skim boarding for hours each day.
School work for Henry on this rainy day. He starts kindergarten tomorrow, but he’s been working on letters while Will does his summer reading.
Rain, rain, that’s okay! Mom and Henry toe to toe–off to the apple and peach orchard we go!
With a stop at Clyde’s Cider Mill on the way home, the traditional first day of school snack!
The big kids are gone for a long day!
Missing our lovely nursery school, our first year without a child there since 2007. What a happy, magical place it is.

LOVE the color! the shot of the pencils is awesome. I want to buy it, frame it and put it on my wall.
what a great glimpse into your world, and a special day for the boys to look back on years from now….especially love the pencils, boots, and puddle shots!
Ok, I know I’m emotional right now but I cried looking at these! First of all, photos aside, how is my Godson already in the second grade?! I could feel their emotion (beyond my own of course) of excitement and pure joy for Will, a little sadness on Henry’s part, the lovely tradition of cider doughnuts on the first day of school (I want a first day of something to have cider doughnuts!) – loved it all! I think the boot shot needs to blown up for the wall in your mudroom and the pencil one needs to be blown up for Will’s room. Just sayin.
Anna,
I just wanted to tell you how much I love viewing your photographs…they always put a smile on my face! Not only are your boys absolutely precious, but you are just so talented. Do you ever travel back to new York for assignments?
Anyway, I hope you are well!! Happy fall…
Andrea
This is a great idea. I love your pics always and look forward to traveling around to see others 10 on 10.
Flawless, as always.
Great shots Anna! The first day of school was such a great day to pick to do this on. I love seeing your traditional snack. Love the colors. The pencil shot is fantastic! Love the boots! Great job!
I love how you captured the details the first day of school. What great memories you have captured for your boys!!!
