The one about Bronx Mowgli and Thanksgiving dessert
I’ve spent the last two weeks communing with my computer, editing what I’m guessing is several thousand photos. I love this one, despite the obvious technical flaws. And I love that I can love such an imperfect photo.
Not much else to report here except:
1. Still not sure what to make as a contribution for Thanksgiving dessert. Pumpkin pie spoken for–any ideas?
2. I have come to the conclusion that Lightroom is like digital crystal meth, while Photoshop is like digital oatmeal, the slow-cooked kind. I love love love LR, but it makes me feel slick and a little empty inside because it is so fast and crazy and wheeee! I’m not sure if oatmeal or meth will win–any opinions out there in the crowd?
3. The one diversion I allowed myself this week, besides wincing briefly over poor Bronx Mowgli Wentz‘s name, was to follow along with the Mammoth Men, a heartbreakingly talented crew of 12 male photographers who severely and thoroughly documented their third “mancation” together this past week. Sadly, I’ve won NONE of the excellent swag being promoted by their sponsors so far, but hope flickers eternal. Below you’ll find my pathetic entry for their “Make the Mammoth Men Laugh” contest, which echoes some of their favorite activities in the past week. I don’t think it has a prayer of nabbing a win among their talented followers, but it does mean I have a ready-made BEST SHOT MONDAY. Hope my little Mammoth Men don’t hold this one against me someday, but look at the swag!
4. I was serious about suggestions for Thanksgiving dessert.

Just saw a recipe in a magazine the other day that made my mouth water…Pumpkin Chocolate Cake (pumpkin double layer cake with chocolate icing). A combination of two of my favorite things. Could also do a pumpkin ice-cream cake. Apple Cinnamon Crisp. Need to stop now before my salivary glands go into overdrive. Happy Turkey Day!
MORE pumpkin pie. I seriously can’t get enough of it. I’m eating one here all by myself cuz no one else will touch it. I’ll be walking into Thanksgiving Day with a pumpkin pie on my butt.
Pioneer Woman had a recipe for a Carmel Pumpkin cheesecake that looks AMAZING. Is that too close to pumpkin pie? Because if not, I say that is the dessert that you have to make. Just thinking about it has me drooling…

I’m making Cranberry Chocolate Nut Pie – made with craisins, white chocolate, walnuts. Last year I made Cranberry White Chocolate blondies, which were a huge hit! If you want either recipe, I’m happy to share : )
I love cherry pie at Thanksgiving. With all the super sweet alternatives, slightly tart cherry pie is refreshing.

Those chocolate chip pumpkin cookies I posted about last week are my contribution this year. They are SO good.
We had a friendsgiving meal in Boston and a friend contributed a chocolate pecan pie. She said she added bittersweet chocolate chunks to a basic pecan pie recipe. I never thought you could improve this particular pie but it was dee-lish to bite into the chocolate chunks. Have a happy happy holiday! xo

I seem to remember that you make an awesome ice cream pie. What about with some kind of fall flavor ice cream – pumpkin, ginger, or maple…now I’m hungry.

I was going to make a chocolate roll but the fam wishes for homemade apple pie. I am not making both because then I will eat both! Oh and I love the photos.
I made my cheesecake for holiday dishes. I actually split the recipe up and make it in two or three pans because one thick slice is akin to at least 5 pounds of girth. They all forgive me for it, though, since it is so good! 🙂

I think it’s got a prayer! A big one – awesome shot. I totally get what you mean about the first one too. Who cares that it’s “imperfect”…it’s real and that’s even better.
Thanksgiving desert – PW bread pudding. Love that stuff. But I tweak it by adding apriocot or orange preserves as a glaze over the top. Yum. A pumkin caramel pie would be awesome, too.
Oh, and I’ve never gotten the hang of LR, so it’s PS all the way for me.
Apple pie? CARAMEL apple crumble? Pumpkin cookies with burnt-sugar caramel frosting?? Rum cake! (Recipe is on my blog, last week.)
Am just naming things I would like now…
