Emilie + Tim: Married at the Asticou
This was such a beautiful wedding this summer in Maine–a small, intimate affair for Emilie + Tim and their families at the Asticou in Northeast Harbor.
I love sharing tidbits about the love stories I encounter with my morning running partners, who often become as invested in the stories as I do, and there may not have been a better one all summer as far as us runners were concerned: “YOU GUYS, they met when he INTERVIEWED her for a story on endurance athletic events. (huff, puff, huff, puff) AND THEY TOTALLY KNEW, PRETTY MUCH RIGHT AWAY!” (Cue the swoon from the forty-something mama runners, who know an exceptional love story when they hear it.)
But nothing prepared me for how warm and real and genuine Emilie and Tim are. Once you meet them, it all fits. You think, “Of COURSE you belong together. What took you so long?” Just being around them and their families that day made me feel like part of something really, really good. It was such a joyous, happy blending of families and the love positively overflowed.
But to hear the whole story, you should go to Emilie’s blog–besides being a mama, wife, runner and teacher, she’s also an talented writer, and no one can tell it all better than she does. Click over to One Mom in Maine for the rest of the story, or check #throckwedding on Instagram!
In the meantime, it is my great pleasure to share these photos with Emilie and Tim and their friends and family. I so wish you guys lived closer, I’d love to join you for a run and a coffee afterwards! xo
Happy love,
Anna
This glorious spot on Mount Desert Island, the Asticou Inn, is a local icon in Northeast Harbor with its scenic harbor views and gorgeous gardens.
Emilie helping her daughter, Skyler, dress for the ceremony. I adore the ribbons and would have loved this crown and gown when I was her age!
Emilie and her sister. The shades of blue truly echoed the Maine coastline around us.
Bouquets made with love.
The ceremony setting. Notice the blue skies and bright sun. And then remember that the fog rolls in nearly every evening in Northeast Harbor. (If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute, right?)
Simple, lovely wedding details.
Emilie and Tim met in the gardens with their children and walked down to the shore together.
Tim’s brother married them, with accompanied by truly special readings from loved ones.
Ellis and Hillary with Tim (one of my favorite parts of their story? Emilie was their English teacher in high school before Emilie and Tim ever met!)
Dear friends and a glorious view.
We were greeted back at the inn by these secret agents. They allowed a few photos, one of them wearing my sunglasses.
Happy love, Emilie and Tim! If your life together is anything like your wedding day, you will have joy, happiness and the love of family and friends beyond measure.
