A few of my more faithful readers, especially those related to my children, have pointed out it has actually been a while since I posted photos of said children. To them I say thank you for reading, and then I say YOU TRY and capture them with a camera. I’m a little tired of chasing them just to get a blurry foot, or a photo of Henry in a headlock.
Exhibit A: BLURRY FOOT
Exhibit B: HENRY IN HEADLOCK
It actually has been a while since I’ve really taken photos with any gusto. It’s February, it’s cold and dark out and I’m trying to keep up with a very busy midwinter agenda of eating, reading and wearing fleece. I’m awash in too many unorganized images already, and inspiration is at a low these days.
But Amily and Tyler’s triplets are arriving soon and I get to shoot their birth anouncement, plus Maggie’s baby too, so I have the good fortune to shoot some newborns in the coming weeks, along with some photo dates with baby Lily and her big sister Martha, and maybe Mike’s kids Aidan and Erin.
I’m excited to try the old using-your-garage-with-the-door-open-as-a-natural-light-studio trick if my ever-patient husband and photo assistant will comply, along with my two fleet-footed offspring.
And Valentine’s Day is next week, so I might (!) even be inspired to wrestle H & W into red and improve on last year’s pig pile of a photo.
But for serious inspiration, click on Shutter Sisters.
A combination of magic, pixels, love, sunlight and dreams, Shutter Sisters is a breathtakingly gorgeous photoblog, launched in part by Tracey Clark of Best Shot Monday, with some amazing women photographers and writers as contributors. But it is so much more than just photos.
Stories, daily shots, contests and inspiration make up the bedrock of this site, and I just know you’re going to love it.

I am excited to see the results of all these upcoming photo shoots. I love your photos.
Henry does not look pleased to be in a headlock.
i read sweet/salty and learned about shutter sisters from Kate over there. very cool site!
Haha poor Henry! Yes, more pictures please. I do love them.
your kids! so cute!
I got a new lens for low-light situations and it is working REALLY well! Depth of field is limited but for portrait-type kid stuff, it is fantastic. Its a Canon EF50mm f/1,8 II (Whatever that means!)
looking forward to pictures!
I got a cell phone with a camera. I’ve taken pictures of my parakeets and a dachshund I saw in a pet store. That’s about it. I don’t think I will be winning many awards 🙂
The headlock! That’s classic…nothing like brotherly love. 🙂
